Exmoor Explorer - 500 entrant, although only 400 are allowed to take part!!

I opted for the short course - a mere 25 miles of slogging up endless exmoor hills, spending most of the time at or neart the back. Firstly because I stopped for 15 mins to help my mate repair his broken chain within the first 2 miles, later because I stopped to help a guy put himself back together after he went over the bars right in front of me, and thirdly, \'cos I was holding back cycling with a female colleague. Actually, that third one is a lie - she was somewhat faster than me on the climbs (not difficult), though I was faster than her on the descents.

Beautiful day, superb scenery. Great way to spend my wedding anniversary (no - wife doesn\'t ride!).
